High-voltage 10 ns delayed paired or bipolar pulses for in vitro bioelectric experiments

چکیده
Recent studies proved that classical bio-effects induced by nanosecond pulsed electric field (nsPEF) can be reduced the delivery of a negative polarity pulse generated immediately after positive pulse. This phenomenon is known as “bipolar cancellation” and it was reported for wide range bipolar pulses with duration from 2 ns to 900 ns. On contrary, paired pulses, i.e., two identical same polarity, increased traditional nsPEF outcomes. Herein, we propose novel robust flexible generator, based on frozen-wave concept, able produce broad 10 delay between 17 360 Numerical simulations experimental measurements were performed fully characterize proposed generator. Nanosecond - Current Probe for High Voltage Experiments
A current probe has been designed which allows measurement of ns;pulsed currents in high voltage environments. The probe consists of a current transformer and an optical transducer. The transformer coil in a metallic torus is considered as a slow-wave transmission line and is terminated with its wave impedance. In this mode of operation current pulses shorter than twice the transit time of the ...
متن کاملDelayed pulses from high-transparency Josephson junctions
Calculations of the shape and the timing of single-magnetic-flux quanta ~SFQs! generated by high-current-density ‘‘self-shunted’’ Josephson junctions are presented. The junction current is assumed to be due in part to multiple Andreev reflections within the high-transparency barrier. The SFQ pulses from these junctions show several differences when compared to those from lower-current-density r...
متن کاملMechanisms involved in gene electrotransfer using high- and low-voltage pulses--an in vitro study.
Gene electrotransfer is an established method for gene delivery which uses high-voltage pulses to increase permeability of cell membrane and thus enables transfer of genes. Currently, majority of research is focused on improving in vivo transfection efficiency, while mechanisms involved in gene electrotransfer are not completely understood. In this paper we analyze the mechanisms of gene electr...
متن کاملEffects of high voltage nanosecond electric pulses on eukaryotic cells (in vitro): A systematic review.
For this systematic review, 203 published reports on effects of electroporation using nanosecond high-voltage electric pulses (nsEP) on eukaryotic cells (human, animal, plant) in vitro were analyzed. A field synopsis summarizes current published data in the field with respect to publication year, cell types, exposure configuration, and pulse duration. Published data were analyzed for effects ob...
متن کاملA Scaling Law for Bioelectric Effects of Nanosecond Pulses
Experimental studies of bioelectric effects caused by single intense, ultrashort (nanosecond and even subnanosecond), square wave pulses indicate that the product of electric field amplitude and pulse duration, i.e., the electrical impulse, can be considered a similarity or scaling factor. An explanation for this scaling law is based on the assumption that any bioelectric effect in this paramet...
